PROCESS FEATURES

CONSER, in association with qualified suppliers of cracking furnaces, offers technology for the complete design (Basic Process Book) of Visbreaking/Thermal Cracking units.
The CONSER processes are supported by a relevant experience and know how in design of VSB/TC units and by a deep practical knowledge of the effect of the operating parameters.
In addition to the process design for new VSB/TC the units, projects carried-out by CONSER would typically include:

  • Revamping and modernization studies
  • Improvement of yield by recycle operation
  • Troubleshooting (namely: fouling in column and heat exchangers)
  • Operation with/without reaction chamber
  • Experienced design of quench system
  • Straight-run and cracked feedstocks for thermal cracking
  • Atmospheric and vacuum residue feedstocks for Visbreaking

PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Feedstock is heated up to the required reaction temperature in a heater. Cracking occurs inside the coils of the heater and can be continued in a downstream reaction chamber. Steam injection to each coil of the heater is used to control velocity, residence time and to avoid coke formation.
Heater effluent quenching is provided by a stream of gasoil recycled from a
fractionation column where naphtha and gasoil are distilled off from fuel oil.
